Art & Copy

6 10 2009

Saw this documentary on the weekend at UMiami and I liked it a lot. It’s a cool insight into the minds of some of the pioneers of advertising. George Lois stands out with his punk-salesman attitude. It’s interesting to see some of ads from 20-30 years ago, I think a lot of stuff that had a big impact then and that is on the movie would be shot down nowadays by creative directors for being too simplistic and perhaps not so deep. At least that’s how I felt. I expected the doc to be more about creativity and how some of those greats advertisers deal with a blank page but I feel like it was more about the history and the importance of advertising in the world. Whichever angle the movie took it’s interesting because of the stories the admen told. The trailer looks awesome and was edited really well.
